Essential Oil for Hannukkah!

"Then came the Feast of Dedication at Jerusalem. It was winter, and Jesus was in the temple courts walking in Solomon’s Colonnade. The Jews who were there gathered around him, saying, “How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly.” John 10:22

Hanukkah is also known as the Feast of Dedication, AND- The Festival of Lights. We don't necessarily see Jesus celebrating the feast, but it is intentionally mentioned here for a reason! It was during this feast that Jesus reiterated that He is GOD.

"Jesus answered, “I did tell you, but you do not believe. The works I do in my Father’s name testify about me, but you do not believe because you are not my sheep. My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.” John 10:25-30

And WHAT exactly is being celebrated at the Festival of Lights? The Menorah (representing the seven spirits of YHWH), being lit with oil after the Maccabees conquered the enemy and reclaimed the temple from the wicked Antiochus (an antichrist).

This is US when we are born again by the Spirit (oil) in Jesus!

-Our temple is cleansed of the enemy and the defilement of the world. (Antiochus slaughtered a pig on the altar in YWHW's temple-just like the abominations we commit in our temple before we meet our Messiah!)

-And the Light of Yeshua is lit in our spirit! HALLELUYAH!

Anyone who tells you that Hanukkah is just a tradition of men doesn't understand the depth of YHWH's word, His sovereignty, nor how prophecy works!

Hanukkah is a wonderful celebration of the Messiah, a reminder to keep our temple undefiled, and an awesome opportunity to share the miraculous story of the Maccabees as a prophetic foreshadowing of the GOSPEL!

  • Since this blend was created to celebrate the remembrance of cleansing the temple, every oil chosen is a cleansing oil, meaning it possesses the ability to help purify the body, skin, or the surrounding environment through its YHWH-given natural properties.

Calamus: Cleansing, stress, immunity, digestion, oily skin, asthma, some cancers, depression, headaches. Exodus 30:23 -included in the Holy Anointing Oil, Ezekiel 27:19- a valuable commodity, Song of Songs 4:14 -Fine spice in love’s garden. Spiritually represents purity, pleasing worship, God’s presence, Holy Spirit anointing, and holiness. And contrary to modern rumors, calamus is NOT cannabis.

Cedarwood: Cleansing, muscle aches, muscle spasms, stiff joints, poor circulation, respiratory congestion, bronchitis, sinusitis, coughs, infections, lymphatic support. Skin care uses: Oily skin, dermatitis, blemishes, dandruff, scalp tonic, minor skin infections, insect repellent. Psalm 104:16 says that cedars are planted and watered of the Lord! They signify His grandeur and provision and were used in building the temple as well as King David's palace.

Frankincense (Bosweila Carterii): Cleansing, coughs, bronchitis, inflammation, infections, tense breathing, shallow breathing, rapid breathing, immune support, stress, anxiety. Frankincense was an oil burned for praise and worship, and to anoint the high priests. Its flame burns pure white, and its citrusy scent would've made it an obvious choice as a gift from the Magis to the newborn Messiah, and speaks of the divine nature of Jesus, that He was fully YHWH.

Myrrh: Cleansing, bronchitis, coughs, sore throats, infections, mouth and gum disorders, immune support, chapped skin, dry skin, anxiety, tension. John 19:39-40 Myrrh was given to Jesus at birth, offered to him at the cross, and he was anointed with it at His burial. Its significance speaks that he was fully human and would die as such. It's this death, burial, and subsequent resurrection from the dead that is our SALVATION, the promise of our own resurrection. Myrrh was also a main ingredient in the holy anointing oil.

Oppoponax: Cleansing, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and is also used in perfumery. Its rich scent is reminiscent of vanilla and is one of my personal favorites in the essential oil world. It's wonderful for muscle spasms, burns, rashes, and insect bites, sore muscles and joints, fighting infections, wound healing, supporting immunity, clearing respiratory congestion, situational anxiety, and depression. It's also known as Sweet Myrrh.

Sweet Orange: Cleansing, pain relief, antibacterial, antifungal. Leviticus 23:40 refers to the "fruit of the goodly tree" (peri etz hadar) for Sukkot. The ancient Hebrew word referred to the citrus fruit Etrog, but in modern times is used to refer to all citrus fruits in general.

Vetiver: Cleansing, muscle aches, stiff joints, poor circulation, infections, lymphatic support, immune support, devitalized skin, dry skin, mature skin, rough skin, irritations, blemishes, minor skin infections, small wounds, nervous tension, sleeplessness, mild depression, mental exhaustion, emotional instability.

  • Methods of Use:

Menorah Oil: Add a few drops to the Festival of Lights oil in your Menorah for a scent reminicent of the burning oils used in scripture.

Aromatherapy: The use of natural, aromatic substances, known as essential oils, has been proven to directly connect to the amygdala and the lymbic system in the brain, where the seat of emotions is, as well as enter the bloodstream just through smelling, offering mental, emotional, and physical healing support. Our Creator YAHWEH is amazing in all His ways!

Dry Inhalation: Put 1-3 drops of essential oil on a tissue and inhale the aroma through your nose. Pause and inhale again. (Avoid touching your nose with the tissue.) OR, dilute with carrier oil and rub into your hands like lotion, then cup your hands over your nose and mouth and breathe deeply through your nose, hold for 7 seconds, exhale, and repeat.

Bath, Foot: Mix 1-3 drops of essential oil in 1/2 teaspoon of carrier oil, such as fractionated coconut oil. Set aside. Fill a tub (deep enough to cover your feet and ankles) with warm water. Add the essential oil mixture, stir well, and immerse your feet for 10-15 minutes. Breathe in the aroma and massage your feet.

Compress: Fill a basin with water. (Warm water relaxes and increases circulation. Cool water invigorates and relieves inflammation.) Add 3-5 drops of essential oil to 1/4c milk, and briskly stir. Lay in a washcloth, wring, and apply to the area in need for approximately 1-5 minutes. Dip, wring, and apply 3 more times.

Diffusion: Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to fill the air with therapeutic aroma.

Easy alternatives when you don’t have a diffuser: Place 2-4 drops of essential oil on the Emerald Rainbow Diffuser, several cotton balls, felted wool balls or tissues; place nearby or tuck into the grate of a fan or air vent in your home or car. Facial Oil: Mix 2-5 drops of essential oil in 1 ounce of carrier such as jojoba, calendula, or rose hip seed oil.

Spot use: Mix 6-30 Drops in 1ounce of carrier oil and apply 1-3 drops to the wrists or bottoms of feet.

Massage: Mix 6-30 drops of essential oil in 1 ounce of carrier oil or fragrance-free, natural lotion. Gently massage the chest and neck area.

The Methods of Use are general guidelines. Individual sensitivities, desired results, and the characteristics of the essential oil(s) used must all be considered. Adjust methods and proportions accordingly.
