Notice the Lord said, "If I inflict..." Yikes! He is the one inflicting the mold on a dwelling? The people believed that if they were in harmony with the Lord, the Lord would preserve them, their spirits and bodies, and their homes. (Deuteronomy 30)
Whenever one of them sinned, he would face discoloration of the skin, clothes, and then the house. This indicated that they had departed from YHWH's ways and that He had withdrawn His blessing. Most of us live on land and in dwellings that have a HISTORY of sin of all kinds, from bloodshed in wars on the actual earth to sins committed in lived-in houses, or even the greed of the builders of new homes; our dwellings have histories that need to be dealt with. And thankfully, through Jesus, His disciples are called PRIESTS (Rev 1:6), and we have the right to declare our homes CLEAN according to the scripture in Leviticus above.
