How to Know You Are Really Saved

I am always surprised when I hear a professing Christian is struggling with resting in the fact that they are really saved, and honestly, I can imagine no greater torment than to live as a Christ follower while wondering if He has accepted and saved me. This is a sick game the devil is playing with God's people and it has to stop. Let's put an end to the this harassing spirit of doubt right now. Get your sword and let's go.... The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10:8-13)

Mouth & Heart- The meat of this matter is covered in this one scripture. The word clearly states that you have been given the faith in your heart to speak the word that is salvation- JESUS. The faith to say it is right there in your mouth and heart. A gift from God. The first step is just saying it. "Jesus is Lord." Simple as that.

'Faith' is a noun, 'Believe' is a Verb- In the original language faith means TRUST. It is something you possess. But believe means-'ENTRUST'-it is something you DO. Think about that. Faith is a thing you have been given (Romans 12:3) in order to take the action necessary to be saved. It is the tangible, God given substance that allows you to take the action of believing.

So what does all this mean? Right now-take the faith you have been given and speak the name of Jesus for salvation, then lets take the next step of action...Believing unto righteousness. Righteousness means -justness or justice. This means that once you say it-you have to choose to act in such a way to show that you believe that you have been justified in Christ. You cannot justify yourself, but you can act (remember-believe is a verb) in such a way that your actions prove that you meant it when you said, "JESUS IS LORD." And that you have been justified by Him. This is what is meant by, "Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead." James 2:17. If Jesus is Lord of your life then a few things will be evident and at work (the act of believing upon the gift of faith in your daily living.) Here is a short list...

-You will want to be like Him, and want people to see Jesus when they look at you and your life. (1 John 2:6, John 3:30)

-You will want to know Him and His word better. (Psalm 119:105, James 1:22, Luke 11:28, Matthew 4:4, 7:24)

-You will recognize your old sins that have been overcome and be excited to tell others about how He has made you new. (2 Corinthians 5:17, Revelation 12:11)

-You will want to carry on His work on the earth. (Philippians 1:21-22, Galatians 2:20)

-You will long to be with Him. (Revelation 22:17) The bride of Christ says COME. If you want to see Him-YOU are His bride.

Doubt is a Demon- Scripture is clear, as new creations in Christ we are to continually knock, seek, ask (Matthew 7:7-8), search the scriptures to make sure what we are learning about the Christians faith is true (Acts 17:11), and add more knowledge to our faith among other things. (2 Peter 1:5-9) Asking, seeking and learning are all characteristics of a person who believes that Jesus is Lord, but doubt is something else altogether. Doubt is a harassing demon that partners with a spirit of fear and you must take the authority that the Lord gave you in Luke 10:19, and force these dark spirits out of your life. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal every areas and agreements with doubt and fear, then follow His lead until it is all confessed and broken. Receive the Lord's forgiveness in Jesus, then proclaim out loud that you "break any agreement that you have had with the enemy in doubting the Lord's salvation, goodness, truth, word, etc."Then when done-command the spirits of doubt and fear off of you and your life. Tell them to go where Jesus tells them to, never to return. Then ask the Lord to fill the empty places in you and your life with His Holy Spirit of knowledge, hope, faith, perfect love that casts out fear, etc. and to give you scriptures to use as a weapon should another spirit of doubt or fear try to take it's place. The next time you are assaulted with harassing or condemning questions of doubt, take them captive as your prisoner to Jesus. Confess them-proclaim the scriptures that He gave you out loud, then command the spirit to leave. Ask Jesus to restore your peace and faith as a child. He will do it, receive His gift. Who Sent the Invitation? The next time you have question about the mystery of or Lord or His word-see it as an adventure that He is calling you to join Him in. Know the difference between His invitation to seek Him for more knowledge, and the enemy's fiery arrows of doubt tempting you to agree with Him like He did Eve. ("Did God really say?" Genesis 3:1) Never partner with the latter.
