DIY Probiotic Mouthwash
THE PROBLEM
So we all know what causes bad breath, gum disease, and decay, right? It's BAD BACTERIA. I have learned that I can brush, brush, brush my teeth and floss until the cows come home but if there isn't good bacteria introduced, the bad will just take over as we sleep-creating the morning breath syndrom that until now, I just thought was a normal part of being human!
ENTER PROBIOTICS & PREBIOTICS
Probiotics are GOOD bacteria that keep everything in perfect, fresh smelling BALANCE. Prebiotics are fiber that feed the good bacteria so that they can keep growing. Picture it like a war between the good and the bad and the prebiotics are like running out onto the battlefield with food and water to strengthen the good guys. Lol This recipe used the Emerald Pure Grace for the probiotics, and the Emerald Green Pastures or Be In Health for the prebiotics, alkaline nature, and healing and detoxing abilities found in the chlorella, spirulina and other greens in these products.
WHAT ELSE?
Xylitol, which is made from birch bark, inhibits the growth of the bacteria that cause cavities. It does this because these bacteria (Streptococcus mutans) cannot utilize xylitol to grow. Over time with xylitol use, the quality of the bacteria in the mouth changes and fewer and fewer decay-causing bacteria survive on tooth surfaces.
Coconut oil pulling has been reported to remedy a host of oral health problems, including gingivitis, periodontitis, and halitosis. Claims have been made that oil pulling can strengthen teeth, gums, and the jaw, in addition to preventing tooth decay, dry throat, and cracked lips.
Baking Soda is alkaline, so it can help regulate your mouth's PH by neutralizing the acidity. As such, baking soda not only prevents tooth decay but also helps remineralize your enamel. Baking soda can also limit plaque buildup by neutralizing plaque acids.
Egg Shells (Calcium carbonate) gently cleans and whitens tooth enamel naturally. It is also said to aid in “re-mineralizing” or reversing the effects of tooth decay while supporting healthy bones and enamel. When you grind them it even smells like when you have your teeth drilled! I am in awe of the Lord once again with this one. He knew and gave us egg shells to help remineralize our teeth! That amazing to me!
Emerald MouthPeace Blend-MouthPeace was created for at home oral health care without the use of flouride, glycerine (which coats teeth and blocks the good stuff from doing it's job) or anything else we don't want in our systems. The oils and their actions that make up the powerful MouthPeace blend are listed below, then below that is the full DIY Probiotic Mouth Wash Recipe! The links to every emerald product you need to make it can be found throughout this post, the rest can be found on amazon or your local health food store. Happy rinsing!
